Helix was a fun project where we created a ton of different, customizable styles, out of a very simple and "flat" mesh.
99% of the texturing work was done in Substance Painter, with the occasional mask editing in Photoshop.
Helix Tau includes three sci-fi styles: Skorpio, Spaceship and Cyberpunk.
We created the styles concepts in Substance Painter, on the very mesh, since it is such a great tool for painting, so friendly! Also with the use of masks (plus effects such as blur) and folders is very easy to create overlapping effects directly in Painter, which is something I used to do in Zbrush + Photoshop in the past.
